In a new partnership with Aspen Words, WriteON NYC Fellows taught creative writing classes to middle and high school students in Colorado’s Roaring Fork Valley.
Classes took place over a four week session. Some classes were initially taught virtual, transitioning to in-person sessions in the final week. Throughout the program, students wrote poetry and fiction while being encouraged to explore their creativity without boundaries. These generative and workshop style classes culminated in a showcase at most schools, where students read their work aloud for an audience including family, friends, and teachers.
“This project deepened my passion for teaching creative writing. The students embraced this
opportunity to express themselves creatively, and it was a joy to work with students from a
different part of the country. No matter where a student comes from—New York City or a small
town in Colorado—everyone has something valuable to say. Our students shined on this platform, and I could not be more proud of them.” – Zachary Ginsburg, WriteOn NYC Fellow
We’re so proud of the creativity and hardwork exhibited by the students in this program! Thank you to Aspen Words, our students, and fellows, for an incredible experience!
