On February 26th at 5PM, our partner organization, high school student-led The Decameron Project will be hosting Jason Reynolds for a virtual conversation and Q&A. Jason recently wrote the bestselling Stamped with Ibram X. Kendi, and as the National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature at the Library of Congress, he’s no stranger to bringing literature to life. For more information and to reserve your place, visit Decameronproject.org/Jason-Reynolds.
The event with Jason is accompanied by an exciting new competition sponsored by WriteOn NYC! The theme is “Outside My Window.” From now until March 15th, we are asking for high school students to show us their corner of the world –– and write about what makes it unique. At the end of the competition, Jason will choose his favorite story and read it aloud. The writers of the three best stories will also be awarded with prize money: 1st place wins $250; 2nd and 3rd place win $100. Visit Decameronproject.org/outside-my-window to submit.
